Siobhain Brennan is a doctor specialising in General Practice (RACGP), and works in clinical roles as a GP in an outer metro community GP practice in the Perth Hills and as a casual GP senior clinical practitioner in St John of God Midland Emergency department. She also holds the role of Director of GP Liaison at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals.
Siobhain has previously worked in community health service organisations Silverchain and Moorditj Koort, delivering health services to homes and schools in these roles.
Prior to starting Medicine in 2008, Siobhain completed her PHD at the University of WA in 1999, and went on to manage a small research group and held postdoctoral positions in cystic fibrosis research and supervised students and advanced trainees in research projects. She is a named author in 30 research publications from this time.
In her current GP Liaison role Siobhain works across hospital and community issues and curates high quality GP education events for community GPs, she also represents GP interests in several state health committees and teaches medical students on GP topics in her adjunct senior lecturer role for Curtin University.
In addition, Siobhain is a current board member for a GP training organisation (WAGPET) and a local school. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Siobhain has an interest in primary care systems, health care system reforms and is passionate about the importance of prevention and community medicine as part of a whole system improvement.
